Meet Faye
Faye Fraser
Clinical Social Worker / Psychotherapist
Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of Social Work, Masters of Social Work, Social Work Candidate
Faye has focused her career working with children, youth, and young adults in various different capacities. She also loves working with adults. She completed a Bachelor of Arts from St. Thomas University, a Bachelor of Education from Mount St. Vincent University, a Bachelor of Social Work from Dalhousie University and a Masters of Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University.
Faye supports clients and families in numerous ways. At times she uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy training specifically tailored to children and youth, and trauma informed practices. She is trained in animal assisted therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based practices. Faye's practice also includes play based and creative interventions. She is trained in EMDR Therapy (eye-movement, desensitization and reprocessing) and uses this therapy when appropriate.
Faye has completed Level 1 Theraplay® training which is a play based attachment focused modality that focuses on strengthening the relationship between children and their caregivers. This intervention is evidence-based and has many benefits for supporting emotional regulation, strengthening relationships, and provides parent support for supporting their child using an attachment lens. Using this modality, assessments based on the Marschak Interaction Method (MIM) are used to support families to notice all of the strengths they do have and the areas in which we could support change. Faye is also trained in the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP), which is a listening intervention using filtered music to calm the nervous system.
Faye uses an eclectic approach to best meet the needs of each person. She is passionate about supporting clients to reduce symptoms related to emotional dysregulation, depression, anxiety, sexual violence, grief and loss, disordered eating, and trauma. She enjoys working together with families as a team, and includes parenting support in her treatment.
